Peter’s prayer -Consider their threats Lord!
We have just started a video series that will be released on a monthly basis. The aim is to continue to encourage and empower one another for prayer. This one focuses on the prayer of Peter, as shown in Acts 4:29. Consider their threats
Acts 4:29New International Version (NIV)
29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
The world will always be filled with turmoil. This is especially relevant today when persecution is rife, and ignored by those in the free world. Q few days ago there was a bombing in Pakistan that targeted Christians. These are threats that are being executed against the people of God, for their faith. It breaks my heart even as I write this. Yet, this is nothing new.
The church has been under threat for centuries in various parts of the world. The gospel is seldom received with open arms. There is always resistance against the gospel. In the same way there was always resistance against Christ himself while he walked the earth. We are not to be surprised by these things. If anything, persecution has always been an incubator unity within the body of Christ. More than anything we know that wherever there is unity, our God commands a blessing.
Now consider their threats:
I dont know what is standing against you, or what is threatening you today. I just want to pray for you as Peter prayed here, that the Lord may give you boldness as well as wisdom in all situations.
Prayer
Father God
Consider their threats against your people. Consider your threats against your Pakistani children. Give them boldness, dear Lord! We ask that your gospel be never silenced in these situations. May your fire burn even brighter in the bones of believers in these regions. May testimony after testimony come out of these places and keep them encouraged father. We pray for their spirits to never be downcast. Their hope is in you Jesus. In your name, we pray. Amen
