How to pray for your city

Like all other Christians, well and every other person in this world (I HOPE), I am very displeased with the state that this world is in. Do you pray for your city? The state that the media industry is in. The state that my city is in, high rates of crime and senseless murder and violence.
It deeply troubles me. When believers congregate we often sit and discuss these things and murmur and complain, at how the Lord has been pushed to the side in our societies, but what are you doing about it?
What are you doing to make that city you are unhappy about better? We complain about how our children are no longer allowed to pray in school. Are we really teaching them to pray at home? The bible teaches us in
Proverbs 22:6 Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
Before your children actually leave our homes to be open to what the world will teach them, you should have already set them on a path that they should not depart from.
There is a greater disease in our own homes than in these schools if we fail to direct our children. You are responsible for equipping those who will pray for your city.
Ezekiel 22:30 “I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.
The Lord is not impressed by your complaining and blaming politicians, no matter how wrong they may be. He is still searching for men and women who will stand in the gap and lift a land out of destruction. Your prayer can lift your city out of destruction.
Remember when Sodom and Gomorrah were about to be destroyed, the Lord spoke to Abraham and he stood in the gap for the whole city, and finally for Lot and his family.
Prayer Walk: pray for your city
Who are you standing in the gap for? I have not had the pleasure of being part of the New York Prayer Walk, but I know such initiatives are needed more and more. God belongs in your city!
Daniel’s generation saw great feats of the Lord, simply because even in a time where sin was rampant, there were men like Daniel who prayed for their cities. There were men who prayed for their people. Men who prayed for their generation. Who are you praying for?
You need to pray for your city. Some will say, well it is frowned upon in my city. These last days require men like Daniel who would pray to the Lord even when the law of the land declared not to.
I don’t know about you but I’d rather have the whole world frown at me while the Lord smiles at me, than have the whole world smile at me while the Lord frowns.
These days need men like

Even the devil should fear the prayers you send up for your city. I know prayer changes situations, I have seen it time and time again.
When you pray for your city, nothing that occurs will shake you. You will know you have already committed it all to the King of Kings. The reason why tyranny is
Don’t wait for someone else to pray for your city. Twyse put it best for me,
“If you wait to see trouble before you pray, you are already in trouble.”
Share this article with someone else, let God use it to move someone else to pray for their city as you pray for yours. Jehovah I commit every reader into your hands right now, give them a burden for your glory in their cities.
Prayer Points for Your City
It is one thing for us to comment on our shortcomings. Our goal is never to leverage condemnation. We want to be enablers of doers of the word of God. Here are some ideas for prayer points for
Raise the church in my city
Romans 8:22-24 New King James Version (NKJV)
22 For we know that the whole creation groans and labours with birth pangs together until now. 23 Not only that, but we also who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body. 24 For we were saved in this hope, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees?
Our prayer is that the church would rise and take its rightful place in my city. Not a church that is boggled up in the semantics of partisanship. Rather one that is sold out for Christ. One that would never align itself with unrighteousness, but stand for the will of God.
Spiritual Takeover of my city
Ephesians 6:12 King James Version (KJV)
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Beyond what we can see in the physical realm, there are a lot of things that go unnoticed. The
It is not the greedy wealthy or corrupt politicians. There are rulers in the spiritual realms. We are praying for righteousness to penetrate our cities.
