There are fewer prayers less frequented than the prayer of gratitude! The body of Christ has for too long been fed an attitude of seeking the hand of the Lord and not his heart. This is why many give to the church in a way that is almost transactional. They are almost seeking to bride God! What we miss out on is that gratitude is the grandest form of prayer! It is the purest form of prayer!
Just to allow yourself time to come before God with no requests! To just come with adoration and admiration.
Gratitude is often testimony given in advance! Thanking the Lord for what he is yet to do because you know he is faithful.
For Who You Are
Casting Crowns coined the phrase “The God who we want or the God who he is.” This is to say that there are things that we may wish God would do differently. Many walk away due to things not having gone their way, without ever learning to trust in his sovereignty.
This is to say, though we may not know what he is doing, we trust that he is doing something for our God. The goodness may not be immediately evident, but it will surely come to pass. There are several examples in the bible. Joseph in the pit would have perhaps been unhappy with his position, but lay it all in God’s hands. We just want to adore the Lord.
