Most Christians wouldn’t know to or would not feel comfortable saying a prayer for comfort. We are warned that this life is not going to be an easy one. It is one that is fairly short and filled with trials and tribulations.

"How

We also know that there is a God! Wherever there is something negative that is raised against his people, he is faithful to raise a standard against it or us that bad for the good.

When we say a prayer for comfort, we are asking God to be himself. We are not asking for something unbecoming or unknown. The Holy Spirit is a comforter! This is what He does! It is how he rolls. It would be foolish to not turn to him in our time of need when we know he is what we need.

John 14

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 14 verse 26 makes this very clear to us. The Holy Spirit works to bring comfort to the body of Christ, of which you and I are a part of. The moments in which I have needed the greatest comfort have been moments of uncertainty. When I do not know what is to come. My go-to has always been to withdraw from the world and be alone with the Lord.

There is a great comfort that is birthed by being in the prayer closet. It puts things back into perspective. This is where I would come out thinking that very statement that I have held onto for years. “I may not know what tomorrow holds, but I know who holds it.”

Overcome the World

John 16:33 New King James Version (NKJV)
33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you [
awill have tribulation;</g> but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

John 16 verse 33 is a verse that has always been a source of comfort. Just to know that no matter what happens at this moment, or what you are facing right now, there is victory</g> at the end of it. Faith places us in a position in which we can say that we do no</g> see the end, but we know God has already delivered the victory.

In moments of uncertainty, this was the only truth I needed to hear. No matter what was to happen at that moment, or tomorrow, the Lord would still be on his throne. And as long as he was still my God, he would work things in my favour.

In some moments, it is not even a change of situation that you may desire. We tend to get so caught up in life that we become drained and lifeless. Comfort in these moments may simply be lying in God’s arms. Just to have somewhere to take our concerns and worries if comforting.

When may one need prayer for comfort?

There is certainly no finite answer to this. It will come down to the individual. When do you need comfort? In those moments when you feel you could use a hug, a shoulder to cry on, or just an ear to listen. Here are some moments you may need prayer for comfort:
