60 Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God.”

Beyond the prayer, one of the most difficult things about moving forward is letting go of the things that we had in the past. In some cases, it is letting go of what we have in hand. These things will differ depending on what it is that you’re starting again from.

If you are seeking new beginnings for your business, it means letting go of the business you have built, or a business partner than has failed you. If you’re letting go of a relationship, it may mean letting go of the emotional attachment that has developed over time. It means forfeiting time you have invested, and spent with your beloved one. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a romantic relationship or otherwise. Letting go is not easy. As such, our first prayer point is just that for the ability to let go.

If you look back to scripture you will notice that many of the times when Jesus was trying to give a new beginning to someone he told them to let go. I will through some examples at you. Oftentimes when he healed someone, he would end by telling them to go and sin no more.

This was a direction to go back to the life that they were living but live without the sin that they had previously been comfortable with. This is somewhat of a drastic change. You’re going back into the new into same environment with a new attitude. Going back into that same environment with a different viewpoint of the world. The people you would’ve associated with begin to question what do you have become. It is in these answers that you will find your freedom.

Prayer

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the gift of new beginnings. As your mercies are new every morning, we ask that you would give us the grace to walk on the new path that you set for us. Don’t allow me to let go of the things in front of me when you know I should hold on longer. Help me to let go of the falsehoods that I may have held to be true. Help me to let go of anything from the past that will hinder my new beginning. Lord, I ask that you would intervene in any action or lack thereof that will hinder my new beginning. Where I do not see, father, you are sovereign. Help me. We asked this in Jesus name. Amen

Lamentations 3:22-23 King James Version (KJV)

22 It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.
23 They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.

Beyond the prayer All things are new

Salvation is one example of a new beginning. The Bible tells us that when the man is in Christ he becomes a new creation. That means you are a new beginning personified. If that is not the hardest thing there is to start over again is nothing else.

2 Corinthians 5:17 King James Version (KJV)

17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Salvation means letting go of your ways to follow Christ’s ways. May the Lord give us strength. This is the reason why salvation can only be achieved through Christ because in our own strength it is simply impossible. The price of death on the cross is too steep to be paid, and the life that is required for someone who is of Christ is also beyond the norm for most of us.

Our next be a point is simply saying, now that we are in a new path, Lord show me your ways. It is one thing to be able to leave a path to take another one. Yet it is a completely different matter when it comes to being able to find a way to righteously walk on this new path.

New paths a plagued with self-doubt. Even want to know that you’re on the right path you may find yourself beginning to question it in the face of opposition.

You’re not alone in this, one example is that of John the Baptist. The Bible tells us that when John the Baptist was locked up in a prison cell he sent his disciples to ask Jesus if you was the one they’ve been waiting for. This was the same man who had proclaimed when Jesus was walked on the banks of the Jordan that this was the man who shoes he was not qualified to tie.

We also know that even in the womb, John the Baptist has leapt with joy at the presence of Jesus. He knew what he meant. Yet when he faced mounting a position on the right path he began to question things.

Matthew 11:2-3 King James Version (KJV)

2 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
3 And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for setting this on this new path. I thank you for the gift of new beginnings. Just being able to start again is such a blessing. To be able to set things aside and leave things in the past to turn the new leaf is a blessing. We are grateful for each of your blessings, Lord. We ask for the grace to continue on this path no matter how hard it gets. Father, as long as you walk with us give us the strength and boldness to never depart from your will. Lord in the face of opposition we pray that you would raise the standard against the enemy. Pray that you would teach us to war. God when war is required that we may be prepared. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
