Saying A Prayer for School Children and Teachers

Why do we need prayer for school? We may all have different ideas on how schools should conduct their day to day business. One thing that we can all agree on is that when we send children to school, we expect them to return to us. We expect them to come out better, more accomplished in certain skills. This is why it is heartbreaking to hear of news of school shootings. When your children are put in harm’s way while in a place that is supposed to be a place of nurturing. This is a place that they should be thriving.

prayer for school children and teachers

The scripture promises us that wherever we go, the Lord will be with us. This is the heritage that we should want for our children. In fact, as they are connected with us, they come under the same covering that we are under. We understand from scripture that the descendants of Abraham were blessed by virtue of being descendants of Abraham.

Prayers for our Schools

We are going to pray for students, teachers and everyone else involved in our schools. It is imperative that we send our children into school with God’s covering over them. Great men who came before us have refuse to go if God wouldn’t go without them. This is the same thing that we want for our children. Lord, if you are not going with them, my children should not be in that school.

Pray Peace and safety

There have already been too many children who have been physically harmed in school. Beyond the shooting, there are a lot of other crazy things that children have been through. Our prayer is that the Lord would cover our children in their schools. As we send them out, we send them out with him.

Dear Heavenly Father

I know they have fought to remove you and keep you out of school. By virtue of my child being in there, you are welcome oh Lord. We commit our children into your hands. Keep them safe when we cannot. Lord, you alone see what we cannot see. We thank you for fighting wars and delivering victories in battles that we are not even aware of.

No weapon fashioned against our children in school will prosper. As my child departs for school, I cover him/her in the blood of Jesus. Father just as you would have saved Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of 5 faithful people, Lord we pray that you would preserve my children’s school for our sake. May your name be glorified in this. Now and forevermore. In the mighty name of Jesus! Amen

Pray that school fulfils its purpose – giving your child an education

Our schools are often filled with political and ideological agenda nowadays. This has often become a hindrance to the purpose of these fine institutions. Our prayer is that purpose would be served in our schools.

Lord, you are a God of purpose. A God that is faithful to see through anything that is started with you. We start our children’s education with you. See it through oh Lord. Father may its purpose come to completion in Jesus’ name. Amen

Pray for your child’s influences

It is easy to forget just how much of who our children become is influenced outside of the home. As they spend so much time at school, that is one place where they get a lot of influence. Before they start school we have an overview and control of what they see, hear and do. We decide who they associate with. Once they are in school, they are under all sorts of influences. The influence of their peers and that of adults within the school community. Our prayer is that they would be surrounded by good influence.

BAD company corrupts

1 Corinthians 15:33 New King James Version (NKJV)

33 Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.”

Father, you teach us to train a child in the way that they should go. As much as we can, we have done so. Now that they are in school, they are under other people’s influence. Lord, I pray that you would surround my child with the right people. Bring around him/her people that will mould him in your ways. Raise teachers and staff members after your heart. Uproot from schools, those that have bad intentions and influence on our children. Expose those that are conniving in secrecy. In Jesus’ name.

Open our children’s eyes, that they may continue to seek and walk in the ways that we have trained them. Holy Spirit lead our children to remain not of this world, and true representations of Christ in all they do. In Jesus’ name. Amen

A Prayer for Teachers

We all know just how trying and stressful children can be. Most of us struggle with one or two children in the home. Yet, we expect teaches to excel with a group of dozens of children. Children that are coming from all walks of life. They are coming with all sorts of morals or lack thereof. Not the mention external factors that they have to deal with. They also have their own problem, their own families and own children. Let us uplift teachers in prayer.

Father, we thank you for the wonderful teachers that you have given to my children. We pray for wisdom and insight. Open their eyes so they may see where our children need guidance even when they don’t ask. Give them the grace to fill these voids, not by their own strength, but through your enabling grace. Soften their hearts, and fill them with love. We thank you for their families. Bless them, oh Lord, as they continue to be a blessing to our families. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Prayer for Good Grades for me and my classmates

Friendly competition is always healthy. At the heart of everything that our children do, we should desire that they would become lifters of others. God knows that there are enough things seeking the trample our children and their peers. This is a prayer that we could teach our children to pray.

Dear Heavenly Father

Thank you for my friends and my peers. Bless my classmates, oh Lord. Give them divine success. We ask that you would make us a class of note. May your hand be visible in all we do. Open our minds to become wiser learners. Grant us a great desire for knowledge. We pray for every exam that we will take. May these challenges be hurdles that we diligently overcome. Lord, I pray for good grades for me and my classmates. I pray for a fulfilling learning experience. May our classrooms and school be places where our dreams are ignited and fuelled! In Jesus’ name. Amen

A Teacher’s Prayer

We know some of our readers are teachers. I would give anything to have our children taught by a truly prayerful man or woman. Not just those who go to church, or have fancy titles behind their names. A truly prayerful teacher, one with a personal relationship with God. We have written a teacher’s prayer, to inspire them.

Dear Heavenly father. I thank you for my job. May it always be an opportunity to serve you. I thank you for every child that enters my classroom and is entrusted to my care. Lord, make me a good steward of their learning. Grant me the wisdom to be able to teach successfully. Fill my heart with empathy. May I see these children as you see them. Open my eyes to see the potential. Give me the wisdom to bring the best out of the children, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Back To School Prayer

Whether it’s at the start of a new term, or the start of a new school year, going back brings new challenges. The aspects that we rarely talk about are the spirits that come to our children’s schools. Remember there are children from all walks of life, with all sorts of beliefs and lack thereof. Schools are also the place where our children spend the bulk of their time. As such, it is where the enemy targets them the most. Why do you think there has been such a constant fight against prayer in schools? They cannot afford to be sent into schools without prayer!

Dear Heavenly Father, As our children go back to school, we put them into your hands. Lord, we cover them by the blood of Jesus. Lord, anything or anyone that rises against the knowledge of God in our children, let it be pulled down in Jesus’ name. Lord, surround our children with likeminded people, in Jesus’ name! Amen

Prayer To Be Led By God At School

Another for the children to pray. As much as they are in school to learn, they are there to be agents of positive change. They are there to be ambassadors of Christ. To show and be Jesus to the least among them.

Father, I thank you for my school. I pray that you would lead me while in school. Lord, open my eyes to see those who need to be loved. Give me the strength to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves. Give me wisdom to represent you as best I can. Make me an agent of love, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Prayer For Our School

Father, we thank you for our school. May your presence never be in doubt. We ask for your covering as we enter that place. Lord, we declare that we will not fall prey to the plots of the enemy in that place. We call you our rock, our fortress, our hiding place, our God in whom we trust. By your grace, we will not fear the arrows that fly by day! We declare that though a thousand may fall near our school, ten thousand near us, it will not come near us! In Jesus’ name. School shootings will not be our portion. Amen

Prayer For Vulnerable School Children

Father, we thank you for vulnerable school children. You know what they struggle with. We pray for a covering over their lives. Raise great support systems around them. Give compassion to those around them. That they would show grace to the vulnerable children. We pray for teachers and other school staff members. Open their eyes are giving them compassion to love as you would. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen

Powerful Miracle Prayer to Stop Divorce and Restore Marriage

Miracle Prayer to Stop Divorce

We have unprecedented rates of divorce in the world today. Some data even suggests that these numbers are even higher within the church. People are no longer “Till death do us apart” as they used to. In years gone, marriage was an eternal covenant within our society. Nowadays couples get married on a whim, and divorce on another whim.

This is not entirely my own opinion, let us look at the numbers behind these figures.

Divorce rates in Europe in 2015, by country (per 100 marriages)

Divorce rates per 100 marriages in Europe.

Divorce rates in Europe in 2015, by country (per 100 marriages) pdf

Europe has some astounding divorce rates, according to the data we have. Portugal for instance sees 3 out of every 4 marriages ending in divorce. That’s an incredible 75% of marriages not going the journey.

US Divorce Rates

There are two key things to note when interpreting the data shown above, divorce rates have seemingly decreased over time. 25% less divorces recorded in 2016 than there were in the 90s. The two factors that are not considered in this is that, there are also less marriages recorded in 2016 than there were in the 90s. In the 90s, marriage was the norm, which is not so much the case nowadays. In our society today, it is perfectly normal to remain unmarried.

Why is marriage important: christians and divorce

Christian divorce advice: It helps the kids

Marriage is the bedrock and foundation of most of the good things within the Christian family. It is common knowledge that both father and mother are essential for the development of children. Being raised without either the two leaves our children exposed to things that they could and should have been shielded from.

Strong marriages make it easier to build and raise strong children. This highlights the importance of marriage.

Companionship:

Ecclesiastes 4: 9

9 Two people are better than one. When two people work together, they get more work done.

Marriage facilitates eternal companionship. It gives you someone to build a life together with. It pairs you up with someone with whom you may share a vision. Beyond sharing, you have an extra pair of hands and brain to build your visions. Life is incredibly challenging. There is a Shona proverb that says, “Rume rimwe harikombe churu.” One man/woman cannot surround a hill. No matter what it is that you want to achieve in this lifetime, a companion, a destiny helper lightens the load.

Intimacy

Proverbs 5: 18-19

18 Be happy with your own wife. Enjoy the woman you married while you were young. 19 She is like a beautiful deer, a lovely fawn. Let her love satisfy you completely. Stay drunk on her love,

Intimacy is fulfilling. Sexual intimacy is fulfilling. I will concede that nowadays sex is no longer held in the same reverence that it used to be in generations gone by. Sex is meant to be a place of mutual vulnerability. Today, it is a conquest for men, and increasingly for women as well.

As we give this gift away to more and more people, that intimacy that should have been given to a special individual, the value diminishes.

God’s will

Genesis 2:18 New International Version (NIV)

18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

It was God’s will in the beginning that Adam would not be alone, so he crafted a beautiful companion for him. This is the same mould that is key for us today. The Apostle Paul warns of the difficulty of marriage, but encourages us to marry, rather than burn with passion and desire.

As believers we know that God’s plan is best. If he thinks it is not good for this man to be alone, there is some wisdom in that. This is not to say that, marriage is for everyone.

Giving:

We are selfish beings in a selfish world. Marriage grants us an opportunity to be continuous and consistent givers. We have the chance to support someone else’s vision, and not just our own.

Model:

Good marriages build models for generations to come. Seeing my grandparents’ marriage as a child made me want to meet a woman who would love me as my grandmother loved my grandfather. It made me want to love someone, as I had seen my grandfather treat his favourite lady.

Without a good model, what do we have to look up to? There is a clear correlation between less and less of these models, with lower rates of marriages and higher rates of divorce.

Christian Divorce Advice

Christian divorce is incredibly difficult. The late Dr Myles Munroe once argued that divorce is the hardest of all endeavours in life, even harder than death. He argued that death gave closure, which marriages seldom affords us. In death, we can bury this person, and no matter how much it hurts, we carry on. Once there are buried, we can carry on with our lives.

Divorce on the other hand doesn’t play out this way. We may have to continue to see this person for the rest of our lives. It is a wound that will continue to be disturbed from healing. This is especially so where children are involved. You have to meet with this person that you once cared so deeply about, but has broken your heart, or you now dispise. You have to see them at family gathering, children’s birthdays and so on. They are dead to you, but still walking.

The enhance difficulty of Christian divorce is that there may be an added pressure on both of you from the church community. There are fingers pointed in the shadows. The church is indeed a hospital, full of broken and hurt people.

Divorce in the bible: Christian views on divorce

We first encounter divorce in the bible when Moses permits men to give their wives a divorce certificate if they are not up to scratch. Like many other things in history, women got the raw deal in this case. Moses permitted divorce, because of the hardness of our hearts. Mark 10

Divorce is not the divine plan of God.

Malachi 2:16 (NKJV)

16 “For the Lord God of Israel says

That He hates divorce, For it covers one’s garment with violence,”

Says the Lord of hosts.

“Therefore take heed to your spirit,That you do not deal treacherously.”

Perhaps this is the place where your marriage is today. The Lord’s will is that you be kept together. We are instructed not to put asunder, what the Lord has put together, but we have a bad habit of putting things together ourselves.

Divorce in the new testament

Can Christians divorce?

The simple answer is, Yes. Let’s see what Jesus had to say about this.

The new testament recalls a moment when Jesus spoke about the subject of divorce. This was in response to a tricky question being posed to him.

Mark 10:2

2 The Pharisees came and asked Him, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife?” testing Him.

They pose a question as a trap. Does Jesus stand up for the law, or go against Moses?

3 And He answered and said to them, “What did Moses command you?”

4 They said, “Moses permitted a man to write a certificate of divorce, and to dismiss her.”

Jesus responds by referring them back to the law to which they were referring to.

5 And Jesus answered and said to them, “Because of the hardness of your heart he wrote you this [a]precept. 6 But from the beginning of the creation, God ‘made them male and female.’ 7 ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, 8 and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. 9 Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Moses was in the business of facilitating reconciliation between God and his people. This is why the law was put in place. To work with the hardened hearts of mankind. Yet God’s will remains, what he has joined together, no man should separate.

10 In the house His disciples also asked Him again about the same matter. 11 So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her. 12 And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.”

His disciples desired clarity, so they asked for it, and he could not have been any clearer.

  • Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her
  • If a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

Moses’ law mentions the right of man to lawfully divorce woman. Jesus alludes to the woman divorcing man as well. This is not to champion divorce, but to highlight the way Jesus came to shake up things. There are two key components to remember when it comes to divorce in the New Testament:

  1. What God has put together. It does not say what lust, or parents, or friends or mankind. It is what God has put together. We are to never build anything outside of Christ.
  2. Relations post divorce are considered adultery. When we break what God has brought together, and replace it with our own will, lust or “wisdom” we have strayed.

Biblical grounds for divorce

Deuteronomy 24:1 King James Version (KJV)

24 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

  1. Loss of favour in her husband’s eyes. Which could mean anything really.
  2. He has found some uncleanness in her. This could be that she has cheated on him.

How to get over a divorce

There are many remedies that people would recommend for getting over a divorce. What works for one person will not bear the same results for another. The key things that remain is to deal with the root issues. At the risk of being overly simplistic, dealing with these two issues will certainly set you up in your way to getting over a divorce.

  1. There is hurt being carried, ask that the Lord would take it away, and bring healing to your heart.
  2. Unforgiveness is absolutely key. Ask that the Lord would teach you to forgive your ex husband/wife. There is no true prayer without love. There is no forgiveness outside of love. When you pray for someone, God softens your heart towards that person, as undeserving as they may be of you forgiveness. May the Lord show you their brokenness.
  3. Improve yourself. Marriage can become a defining factor to who we are. Find yourself again. Who are you, outside of your spouse? Who are you in Christ? Who are you in your singleness? Identify your beauty and magnify it. Identify your flaws and better yourself!

PRAYER FOR DIVORCE HEALING

Divorce and remarriage in the bible

Marriage divorce and remarriage

Jesus talks about the implications of divorce and remarriage. He makes it clear that we are not break what God has put together, and replace it with our desires. Many marriages are brought to an abrupt end due to one spouse desiring to be with someone else. The husband or wife meets a younger person, and leave their marriage to pursue that relationship. Marriage should be a reason to not be looking with desire at others.

Yet, human nature is to desire all things. It is to be disobedient and self-serving. Love demands that we would serve others.

Although the question of divorce and remarriage is not clearly addressed in scripture, on the basis of having gone rogue with and marriage, and remarrying the one whom God wills. It is commonly done among Christians today.

My wife/husband wants a divorce

Let us concede that at times divorce will come knocking even when you have been the best possible husband. People change, and their desires follow suit. If you are facing divorce papers, because your wife wants a divorce, take heart. God is still God, and he is still with you.

Words of encouragement for a divorced woman/man

We can be ruthless to those who have failed. The church can be a cold place for divorcees. This is not the will of God. We are called to show love to those desperately in need of it.

God’s view of you has not changed as a result of this. As you grieve, so does he!

Deuteronomy 31:6 New International Version (NIV)

6 Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Genesis 28:15 New International Version (NIV)

15 I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I have promised you.”

Isaiah 1:18

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” saith the Lord. “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Matthew 11:28-30 New International Version (NIV)

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Powerful Prayer for New Couple

Relationships are one of the most complex things that we have to deal with as human beings. This extends beyond romantic relationships. Romance is by choice. There are relationships that we have by virtue of birth. These can be both a blessing and a cause of tremendous stress. Prayer for new couples is something that is often neglected by the church.

In fact, new couples, in general, are a topic that is seldom spoken about. Although the goal should be marriage, the journey towards that goal is often unguided within the church. Now that you have found someone that you intend to make a life with, or at least explore the idea of making a life with. How do you carry yourself then?

This post focuses on prayer for new couples. Those that have found someone and are not sure if this is the right person yet. Perhaps others who are sure that this is the right person, but life together is proving to be harder than you had anticipated.

Prayer is a powerful tool for relationships. We have seen prayer raise marriages that were considered all but done. Perhaps you are starting to see the value of Spurgeon’s quote, “There are times when solitude is better than society, and silence is wiser than speech. We should be better Christians if we were more alone, waiting upon God, and gathering through meditation on His Word spiritual strength for labour in his service.”

Most people go through life without ever finding that person who makes spending a lifetime together worthwhile. Congratulations on finding that person. In our times, some people don’t even seek this person any longer. Increased rates of divorce have become a source of great discouragement.

Have we forgotten that we are not of this world? Seeing as you are reading this at the start of your relationship, I congratulate you on seeking to build your new relationship on the solid, eternal rock that is Christ.

Guide and direct our relationship

This is where it all starts. Guidance is paramount to the success of all relationships. There are expectations that may be misplaced. We want to impress our intended, so we let things slide under the rug, only for the rug to be pulled from underneath us later. Our prayer is for the Lord to guide and direct our relationship.

Dear Lord

We place our relationship into your capable hands. Let it not be by our own wisdom that anything we do is done. Open our eyes to see moments that we stray from your will. Give us the resolve to run back into your arms. May no desires fleshly or otherwise be placed above your will. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Draw us closer to one another

Most of us lead quite busy lives. It is easy to let this come between us in a new relationship. At the start, we make sacrifices that become expectations. As time goes by, some of these are not sustainable. Our loved ones begin to feel neglected. Our prayer is that we would always be conscious of this.

Father, we bless your name for our new relationship. We pray that you would draw us closer, now and forevermore. As we build on you, we ask that you would hold us together through every storm that life throws at us. We know there will be storms. Open our eyes to always see that we are one, and to always fight together instead of each other. Draw us closer oh Lord. Amen

Grant us Discernment

Discernment is an invaluable gift in a world that is filled with deceit. Many relationships fall apart due to what has not been said, instead of what has been said. By the same token, many relationships fail because of what has been done instead of what hasn’t.

Lord, teach us discernment. That we would be conscious of the needs of one another. Teach us to fulfil these to the best of our ability in words and in action. Teach is to be proactive in the way we love and show that we love one another. Open our eyes to each other’s pain points. Show us where we offend unwittingly. Teach us to heal each other where we hurt. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Teach us Faithfulness

This needs no preamble. Most divorces are a direct result of infidelity. When our desires go unchecked, we end up hurting those we love dearly.

Lord make me a man/woman of integrity. Open my eyes to know when they have strayed. Teach me to be disciplined and not to fall to canal desires. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Grant us a spirit of Forgiveness

Matthew 6:14-15 New King James Version (NKJV)

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

We are commanded to forgive and to forget. People tend to forgive, but hold on to what they claim to have forgiven someone for. Which obviously is not forgiveness. Forgiveness is saying, You have wronged me, I have let it go, never to bring it up again. Our prayer is that we would learn to truly forgive one another as a new couple.

Dear Lord, Teach me to forgive my spouse. Open my eyes to anything that I am still holding on to that my spouse has done wrong. Open my eyes to my own faults, and grant me the humility to own up to these. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Give us a heart of Thankfulness

1 Thessalonians 5:18 New King James Version (NKJV)

18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.[1]

Gratitude is the purest form of prayer. These are words that we have always stood by.

Lord, I am grateful for my spouse. I am grateful for our relationship. I am grateful for the person that I have become. I am grateful for the person that you will transform me into. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Father, we thank you for bringing us together as a couple. Lord, we acknowledge that nothing happens by chance. We commit ourselves into your hands. Direct our footsteps. Make us good stewards of one another, that we would both develop as a result of this relationship. If this is not the right relationship for either one of us, Lord don’t let it drag on. Don’t let this be time wasted. Protect both of us from exploiting one another for ill will. In Jesus’ name. Amen

A prayer for engaged couples

Father, we thank you for bringing us to a time of commitment. Let this be a time of continued growth as we work together with a life together. Teach us to see one another as you see us. May I see my spouse as you see them. May my spouse see me as you see them. Lord, show us how to love one another as you would. Whatever is in me that may hinder my relationship, let it be an area of growth and resolution while we are engaged.

You know where I carry hurt. You know where I am weak. Teach me to not have these things work against what we are building together. I pray the same for my spouse. Teach us to support and champion one another’s growth without judgement. One of our eyes to see each other’s victory as our own victory. Your word says two become one. In Jesus’ name. Amen
