Have you ever wondered why this phrase has become more common lately? Alaska’s largest state in the United States, has been dealing with several natural disasters and environmental issues. From earthquakes to wildfires, the state is struggling with the aftermath of these events.
Alaska was hit by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake that caused extensive damage and left thousands of residents without electricity and running water. The state has also struggled with an unprecedented increase in wildfires that have destroyed vast areas of forests and wildlife habitat. These events have highlighted how vulnerable the state and its people are to the effects of climate change.
So what can be done to help Alaska? In this blog post, we’ll look at the state’s challenges and explore ways we can support its people and wildlife. We’ll also hear from leading experts in the field who will share their insights on the current situation and the path forward. Join us as we pray for Alaska and work toward a more sustainable future for the state and its people.
This post is about things to consider when praying for Alaska. Our prayer points relate to several things, including the economy, security, and the general welfare of the state’s residents. The post also includes information about the leaders we should pray for, regardless of what we think of them.
Psalm 127:1
Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain, you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat– for he grants sleep to those he loves.
This is true today for every nation, state and house. Mighty empires have risen and stood their ground, seemingly immortal. And yet they have almost all fallen. The main reason was forgetting LORD. They watched in vain! They toiled in vain! Let this not be our testimony as intercessors. Let this not be our testimony as men and women of faith.

Economy
Alaska is the largest state in the US but has the smallest population. It heavily depends on natural resources, especially oil, fishing, and tourism. Common jobs in Alaska include oil and gas extraction, fishing, and hunting. The unemployment rate is 7.3%.
Healthcare
Alaska has a shortage of healthcare providers, especially in rural areas. The state has a high percentage of residents who smoke, which leads to higher rates of chronic health conditions. Access to healthcare in Alaska is limited compared to the rest of the country, with fewer residents having a regular doctor or access to healthcare services. However, the state has lower opioid and alcohol-related deaths than the national average.
Peace/Safety
Alaska is known for being one of the safest states in the United States. According to recent statistics, the state consistently ranks among the top 10 states with the lowest crime rates. For example, the 2019 crime rate in Alaska was approximately 39% lower than the national average, making it one of the safest states in the country. The state has a reputation for having low crime rates and a high police presence, which contributes to its reputation as a safe place to live and work.
The strong presence of law enforcement agencies, strict policies, and a strong community spirit contribute to Alaska’s low crime rate.
