Healing Prayers for Others

Have you ever wondered why there are not enough healing prayers for others, in the church today? There is inbuilt selfishness that has is bigger in our generation. Our churches fill because the gospel has been tailored to serve persons. The message of the cross has been simplified to “this is what you can get from God”.

Instead of salvation and sold out disciples, we fill pews with guests. People who have come to partake of the meal without getting their hands dirty themselves. Our Lord Jesus taught us that the greatest among us is the one that serves. Servitude is no longer viewed as greatness. We have placed our leaders on pedestals. Dare I say, we have made idols of our church leaders.

This is something that festers into our prayer lives as well. We have been increasingly programmed to live in pursuit of God’s hand. For the most part, this is God’s hand for us. What can I get? What more could I have? How much more increase could I receive?

If we are to view Christianity in the context of family. Would you ignore the needs of your siblings entirely, as long as yours are being met? It’s a matter of heart condition. King David would pray “Search my heart!” He understood the truth that we are to guard our hearts. Not only are there the sources of living water, but they are also from where we speak.

The core of Christianity is leaving our own causes in pursuit of everything. It is not about you! It has never been about you! There are countless examples of this in scripture. Do you remember the rich ruler?

In every instance, Jesus would tell those who sought to follow him to leave everything behind. The truth is we cannot serve two masters at the same time.

Saying healing prayers for others

Praying for healing should always come from a place of faith, hope and love. Faith in the power of God to heal. Love for the ones for whom we are praying. Hope for better things to come for the ones for whom we are praying.

Mark 16:17-20 New King James Version (NKJV)

17 And these signs will follow those who [a]believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they[b] will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

You are no walking out into the unknown. When you pray for the seek in faith, you are cashing in on what God has written. These signs WILL follow those that believe.

You may wonder what signs are being referred to here. They that believe will have dominion over the demonic. There are sicknesses and diseases that are rooted in the demonic.

They that believe will speak in new tongues. We understand that when we speak in new tongues it is done under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It is not by our own strength or wisdom. It is only by his. Those that believe will lean on the Holy Spirit for guidance. Lord knows we need more men and women that lean on the Holy Spirit in such a time as this.

They that believe will lay hands on the sick, and the sick will recover. That is all you need to know. Outside of doubt is the abundance of miracles. Outside of the barriers erected by our doubt is where God’s fullness thrives.

You do not have to be amazing or well-read or educated. The only criterion is “belief”. You’d often hear Jesus as people DO YOU BELIEVE…

Even in the valley of the dry bones, Ezekiel was asked if he believed it to be possible.

Ezekiel 37:3

And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?”

It is only after Ezekiel had affirmed his faith that the Lord would move on to the next step. The next step was not the results. It was Ezekiel beginning to speak what he believed in his heart into the physical. This is where miracles manifest.

4 Again He said to me, “Prophesy to these bones, and say to them, ‘O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: “Surely I will cause breath to enter into you, and you shall live. 6 I will put sinews on you and bring flesh upon you, cover you with skin and put breath in you; and you shall live. Then you shall know that I am the Lord.” ’ ”

7 So I prophesied as I was commanded; and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and suddenly a rattling; and the bones came together, bone to bone. 8 Indeed, as I looked, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them over; but there was no breath in them.

Thus Says the Lord

If you look at the scripture above, Ezekiel was not stating his desires or his opinion. He was delivering the word of the Lord into those situations. We know that when the word of the comes into a situation there is change. Where the word of the Lord is alive, so is his spirit.

And we know that wherever the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. There is fullness of joy! When you saying healing prayers for others, you are praying for that liberty to be manifest in their lives.

They shall no longer be bound by sickness or disease. Our God is a healer. When you speak the Lord’s word into a situation, you are calling him to honour what he has already said he would honour.

The Prayer

We want to condense everything that we have discussed and concluded in prayer.

  1. We want to pray for our hearts to be filled with faith.
  2. We want to declare our faith.
  3. We want to speak healing over whoever we are praying for.

Father, we bless your name for the gift of faith. Lord help me with my unbelief. Wherever doubt rises, father, I pray that you would nip it in the bud. In Jesus’ name. Amen

I declare that my heart is filled with faith. Doubt is not my portion. I trust in the Lord. I trust in his word. I believe in his ability to do whatever he wants to. He is a loving God. My God is a healer!

Father, I thank you for being a God who is faithful to deliver light where there is darkness. You deliver wholeness where it lacks. I pray for those who are unwell oh Lord. Let you healing overcome them right now in Jesus’ name. Where doctors have written them off, rewrite it all, oh Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen
